2018-19 Coffee Klatch policies
The Deacons conducted a survey last spring and over the summer created new Coffee Klatches for the church year beginning September 1. The schedule is on a poster in the church dining hall and also available by clicking on this link: CoffeeKlatch List
Here are the policies adopted by the Deacons and announced by head deacon Trish LaFrenier. (Email: paintitblue@comcast.net)
1) Find your name and month—if this is a bad month for you, it is YOUR responsibility to find someone to switch groups with you. (Tell Trish when you switch, but don’t expect her to do the switching for you.) If your name isn’t on the list, tell Trish and you will be joyfully added in!
2) Meet with your klatch. Choose a leader. (Tell Trish who your leader(s) are.) Exchange contact info with your group and decide how you will communicate. If it is your month you are expected to set up, serve and clean up. Do your share! You can use paper products, but still have to leave kitchen sparkling!
3) Weeks 1, 2, and 3: KEEP IT SIMPLE! Example: cheese and crackers, fruit, veggies and dip, hummus, pita, hard boiled eggs, peanut butter and jelly, gluten free offerings, and some sweets. Coffee, tea, and juices. (If you need cream, coffee, paper products, etc, tell Trish LaFreniere or Bev Orluske before each Sunday.
4) Week 4: make it “more” if you want! Add a hot dish or two! Examples: soup, stew, casserole, chili, cold cut platters. You are in charge of your choices. If you want to use real dishes instead of paper products, please do, but you’re responsible washing dishes.
5) Blue Moon Sundays (5th Sunday in a month) you only need to make coffee and heat water for tea, set up coffee table, and clean up those cups.
NOTICE WE HAVE NO KLATCHES FOR MAY AND JUNE? This is because we are trying to make nice full groups for the rest of the year. Those 2 months will be “free will” offerings, unless someone wants to put together a renegade new group. (again, if you do so, tell Trish)
Deacons will supply August klatch
