Following up on last Sunday’s discussion about fasting as a spiritual practice and an instrument of change, our church family is invited and encouraged to FAST next Thursday, December 5. During the day, remember and pray for the people of the Philippines and other strife-torn areas of the world.  Please pray also for greater awakening and commitment by the wealthiest of nations to address the connection between this human suffering and climate change.

Then on Sunday, December 8, please come to church with a donation equaling what you would have spent on food onDecember 5 (or more if you are able!). Checks should be made out to ‘Haydenville Congregational Church.’

Since the situation in the Philippines is most urgent, our collection will go to the World Food Program, a U.N. organization. WFP is currently providing food for 3 million typhoon victims in the Philippines and has appealed for $102 million for its Philippines response. It is also working on logistic and infrastructure issues there.

Thank you for participating in this Fast for the Philippines! We hope to make a Fast an annual church event.
