God scattered the people so that they might extend themselves. God is always calling us to build community and reach outward. So many times in our lives we feel confused and scattered- these are the times we must extend ourselves in faith.
Friends, on this Mother’s Day, as we think about our mothers and our families, as some of us think about ourselves as mothers, and as we consider Mary as a mother, let us lift up the fullness of these relationships and not make everything tidy, sentimental and one-dimensional.
