Members of the Haydenville Congregational Church are joining the effort to assemble Household Welcome Kits for refugee families arriving in Western Massachusetts.
These kits will contain basic kitchen, cleaning, and toiletry items that refugees with few belongings will need to settle into life here. The list of items needed to assemble a kit is listed below.
Pick a kit to build or choose items from the list and start collecting them. Items can be new or used and in very good condition.
Bring one or more items from the list to Understanding Islam events:
April 10. Church Service with Dr. Ali Hazratj (Items will be placed up front and blessed
May 14. Roots of Islamaphobia event
June 4. Being Allies workshop

Collect Items on own
If you can’t make it to an Understanding Islam events or are not able to drop off items then, please continue collecting items on your own. Bring everything you’ve collected to church on June 5th and June 12th.
Kit Assembly Party
On June 12th, we’ll have a Kit Assembly Party after Sunday service.
Knitting Hats, Scarves, Mittens
Also, we’d like to start making hats, scarves, and mittens for infants, children and adults to give to refugees with notes of welcome. Knitters, please get to work. We’ll work on this all summer and collect these in the fall. If you’re a new knitter or need a simple pattern see Lisa Hall.
